How long does it take to build a custom cart with luxe?

Our company’s mission is to have carts go from the design process to your drive way in 35-45 days.

There are some factors that can cause delays to this such as; shipping delays for long distance or overseas deliveries, complex designs, or a delay from one of our suppliers. We work hard to communicate and avoid these issues.

Should I charge my golf cart every night?

Yes.

The answer is simply yes. Anytime your golf cart is not in use and you have access to a charger it best to keep it plugged in. Most carts can make it a couple rounds of golf or a couple trips around the neighborhood without needing a charge, however, it is best to plug it in after every use. Your batteries will thank you.

Leaving My golf Cart for 6 months? What Should I do?

This is one of the most common questions we get asked. A lot of our local customers leave the desert during the hot summer months (jealous). The answer really depends on what type of batteries you have in your golf cart.

If you are leaving your golf cart in warm climate for an extended period of time and your golf cart has lead-acid batteries it is EXTREMELY important that you have someone perform basic maintenance on the batteries at least once a month. This includes: checking and maintaining proper levels of distilled water in each cell. Failure to do this can have serious consequences such as fire or explosions.

If you are leaving a golf cart with a lithium ion battery pack the climate will not have as big of impact because the pack is sealed. For Roypow lithium packs, when it is time to leave you simply turn the key to the off position, plug the cart in with the charging cable, and down press the power button on the side of the battery pack. This shuts down the battery pack and safe guards it.

Aside from taking care of the batteries, it is important that the cart is taken off the charger once a month and driven(even if its just down the street). This assures the tires won’t be sitting in the same position which can lead to flat spots.

Not sure who to hire to take care of your cart?

Luxe offers maintenance programs in certain areas. Being a member gives you piece of mind that your cart is being properly maintained no matter the weather or climate. To find out about joining our maintenance program or to see if it is available in your area fill out the form on our contact page.

When Should I Replace My Golf Cart Batteries

The lifespan of a golf cart battery can vary depending on several factors, such as its usage frequency, maintenance routine, and environmental conditions. Generally, a well-maintained battery for an electric golf cart can last around four to five years. However, signs of a deteriorating battery can start earlier, such as a decrease in driving range, slower acceleration, and longer charging time. It is recommended to regularly check the battery voltage, water levels, and charging circuit to ensure optimal performance and prevent premature failure.

The battery replacement process should be done when the capacity drops below 80%, as it may affect the cart’s performance and pose safety hazards. Ultimately, replacing your golf cart battery can prolong the cart’s lifespan, improve its efficiency and power, and enhance overall driving experience.

In Summary

-You should have your lead acid batteries serviced and checked every month. This process is simple and takes only a few minutes.

- In warm climates a set of lead acid batteries should be replaced every 3-4 years.

-In less warm & dry climates a set of lead acid batteries should be replaced every 4-5 years.

There are a number of other factors that can affect battery life; Keeping cart stored in a cool location, keeping the cart in use, as well as using a smart charger.

Benefits of lithium Batteries for golf carts

Lithium batteries have revolutionized the world of energy storage with their numerous benefits. Firstly, they boast an impressive energy density, enabling them to store a significant amount of energy in a compact and lightweight design. This attribute is particularly advantageous in the development of golf carts, as it allows for longer driving ranges and increased performance.

Moreover, lithium batteries have a longer lifespan compared to traditional rechargeable (lead acid) batteries, making them more cost-effective in the long run. Another significant advantage is their fast charging capabilities, which reduce downtime and enhance convenience for users. Additionally, lithium batteries are highly efficient in terms of energy conversion, minimizing energy loss during charging and discharging processes. Lastly, they are much safer than alternatives, with advanced safety features that protect against overcharging, overheating, and short-circuiting. Overall, the adoption of lithium batteries has paved the way for a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable future.

Summary

  • Longer Battery Life
  • Traditional lead acid batteries typically last about 5 years, 3 years in warmer climates.
  • Most lithium batteries are built to last atleast 10 years. The latest batteries from our supplier (Roypow) are built to last 15 years before needing to be replaced.
  • Zero Maintenance

Traditional lead acid batteries are unsealed units that water from the cells evaporates from. This requires you to check and maintain proper water levels in order to keep the battery in proper shape. When opening the battery cell to check water there is the potential for injury and posioning from the battery acid. This process must be done every month. Lead acid batteries also tend to get corrosion due the openings.

Lithium batteries are sealed units. You never have to open them or add water. They do not leak battery acid and a much safer design.

  • Faster Charging
  • A system of lead acid batteries on a golf cart typically take 8-12 hours to completely charge.
  • A golf cart with a lithium battery can fully charge in 1-3 hours.
  • Weight Savings
  • A set of lead acid batteries in a golf cart can weigh anywhere from 350lbs - 550lbs
  • A lithium battery for a golf cart typically weighs 70lbs-110lbs.
  • This weight savings allows for better performance, steering, and saftey
